When you envision hot air balloons, you likely picture those grand, serene vessels gracefully drifting overhead, offering passengers tranquil scenic flights no doubt accompanied by luxurious champagne breakfasts.

Now this undertaking is definitely not for the faint of heart nor is it for inexperienced skydivers, you will need to have your B-Licence to undertake a hot air balloon jump – sorry novices (but here’ a great reason to go and get your skydiving licence!).

The difference between leaping from a plane and a balloon is evident in both altitude and velocity. Plane jumps are marked by their dynamic energy and swift winds, whereas balloon jumps unfold at a notably slower pace, gently gliding with the wind, typically at speeds ranging from 12 to 16 kilometers per hour. While the altitude for skydiving from a plane hovers around 9000-12000 feet, hot air balloons usually reach a maximum altitude of around 3000 feet, so all divers need to be well versed at parachute deployment at low altitudes.
